LIVERPOOL AND NORTHERN DELIGHTS
The City offers the opportunity to be transported back to the Swinging Sixties with its vibrant music scene. On Tuesday take a Beatles tour with a Blue Badge guide and visit Crosby Beach to see the spectacular sculptures by Antony Gormley, his work ‘Another Place’ consists of 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along three kilometres of the foreshore, stretching almost one kilometre out to sea.
Visitors will be spoilt for choice with Liverpool’s exceptional museums, art galleries, shopping and dining experiences.
On Wednesday we travel to Salford Quays, Manchester and the opportunity for you to visit the Lowry Gallery and the Imperial War Museum North (entries inclusive).
Garden lovers will enjoy a visit to RHS Garden Bridgewater. The RHS’s newest garden continues to evolve with the contemporary Welcome Garden and the walled Paradise Garden with its inspiring blend of Mediterranean and Asiatic planting which leads to the Chinese Streamside Garden. Our tour to Flanders features visits to exceptional Cities of Culture and Art including the unique Carpet of Flowers in Brussels.
- Brussels offers a mix of historic grandeur and futuristic buildings. Our coach tour visits the European Parliament Quarter, the Atomium, Parc de Brussels and Mont des Arts. Later you can visit the impressive Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert before viewing the spectacular Carpet of Flowers in the Grand Place which is considered to be the most beautiful Square in the World!
– Brugge, known as the Venice of the North with its web of canals, historic buildings, museums, galleries and chocolate shops is a unique destination. We feature a horse-drawn tour by historic tram visiting key locations and wonderful photo opportunities of the swans that swim serenely on the Lake of Love and the horse drawn carriages that wind their way from the Market Square and Belfry through the cobbled streets of the City.
- Kortrijk a unique UNESCO town with a host of attractions.
- Sluis, we cross the border into Holland to this charming town where you can enjoy boutique stores, cozy cafes and a relaxed scenic setting complete with Windmill.
- Lens the town was destroyed by 90% in the Great War and the majority of the architecture dates from the 1920s and includes a number of art deco buildings. The highlight of our visit will be to the former Miners’ Village which is now the location of the Louvre-Lens Museum. There are two gallery spaces in the museum displaying over 250 works of art from the Louvre in Paris (entry inclusive).
